Dr. Lyon will discuss the natural history of the beaver and its impact on local ecosystems. He will include his own research results in the presentation. Dr. Lyon earned his B.S. degree in Biology at Beloit College and his Ph.D. in the Interdisciplinary Degree Program in Ecology at the Pennsylvania State University. His research focuses on applied ecological investigations of the composition, structure, and dynamics of both terrestrial and aquatic systems with a specific focus on riparian corridors and freshwater aquatic plant communities. He has successfully forged funding partnerships between Merrimack, regional not-for-profits, municipalities and State agencies to address freshwater and ecosystem impairment issues in northeast Massachusetts. Dr. Lyon is currently Vice Provost and professor of Biology at Merrimack College.
