Innovative Small House model
Based on the innovative Small House model, The Woodlands Inn will offer residents a truly comfortable, home-like environment and a reassuring sense of community that will empower them to maintain their highest level of independence and autonomy. This expansion will create one Enhanced Living and three Memory Support households.
Each household is designed to accommodate 10 people and will feature a central hearth area where residents can gather to engage in conversation, watch a movie, play games or just enjoy the warmth of the fireplace on a winter day. The open kitchen and dining area will be a hub of activity where residents can observe or even participate in meal preparation and gather around the table to enjoy their meals together. Each household will also offer a den, a laundry room, a spa, and a private courtyard and garden area where residents can enjoy the outdoors.
Within each household, residents’ private living quarters will be arranged around the central hearth area to foster a sense of community while also giving each resident his or her own private bedroom and bathroom. For residents’ convenience, The Woodlands Inn will also offer a beauty salon/barber shop and a rehabilitation gym.
Dedicated staff team
An important feature of the Small House model is consistent staffing. Each household will have a dedicated team of highly trained staff to provide continuity and enable staff to get to know each resident and his or her preferences and habits. Staff will be on site 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to assist residents as needed and to provide services such as meal preparation, laundry, and social and recreational programming designed around residents’ interests.
