Come and enjoy an introduction to Giacomo Puccini’s opera La Bohème before its transmission in HD on February 24, 2018.
The passionate, timeless, and indelible story of love among young artists in Paris, can stake its claim as the world’s most popular opera.
At first glance, La Bohème is the definitive depiction of the joys and sorrows of love and loss; on closer inspection, it reveals the deep emotional significance hidden in the trivial things—a bonnet, an old overcoat, a chance meeting with a neighbor—that make up our everyday lives.
On DVD: Anna Netrebko and Rolando Villazón as Rodolfo and Mimì.
Speaker: Erika Reitshamer is an engaging teacher whose knowledge and love of opera will inspire all, and his open style and sense of humor are irresistible. She has lectured on opera and great singers of opera for many years and was active in the formation of the Boston Lyric Opera Company more than 38 years ago. She is a board member of the New England Opera Club, former Vice President of the Boston Wagner Society and teacher of opera appreciation for LLARC at Regis College, for WISE at Assumption College and Newton Lifelong Learning. Her last offering for Edgewood was Puccini’s “TOSCA”.
