Peking and the Mystics is a singing group and was formed by graduates of Tufts University. The group has toured nationally and internationally, including trips to the Far East and South America, and has recorded three CDs (and has just finished making a fourth). They have appeared on television and radio programs and have been featured in local and national print media. The group’s eclectic a cappella repertoire, comprising original arrangements by group members themselves, features swing, jazz, doo-wop and pop music of every decade from the 1890s to the 2000s.
Edgewood’s Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Tim Vaill, sings baritone, and is a founding member of the Tufts Beelzebubs, in which the members of Peking and the Mystics sang during their undergraduate college years. Tim is the former chairman of Boston Private Bank, and after completing a degree at the Harvard Kennedy School, worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He now works for Anbaric, a clean energy electricity company. A native of Connecticut, Tim and his wife reside in Andover, Massachusetts.
