Join Mass Audubon’s Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary naturalist Scott Santino to learn about unique and important natural areas called vernal pools. Vernal pools — we have some at Edgewood — host an impressive group of animals, many of which would not be able to survive without them. Together we will enjoy a presentation about amphibians and reptiles that use these pools including frogs, salamanders, snakes, and turtles. Live creatures will be on display for guests to see in person.
Scott Santino is a teacher-naturalist at Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary in Topsfield where he has been leading nature education programs for Mass Audubon since 1999. He is Director of the Ipswich River Day Camps and coordinates the sanctuary’s volunteer nature guide program, training adults in natural history interpretation.
