Environmental Law should be our number one concern for the following reasons: Environmental Law deals with human fundamental matters – health, the integrity of the place you live, and the future of your children. Short videos enable citizens to see environmental insults because you have to see them to believe them. These videos deal with everything from the founding of Earth First, to the rise of the Wise Use Movement, the views of Eco-Feminists, the demonstrations against the salvage logging rider, and to the sinking of the Rainbow Warrior (courtesy of the French Secret Service – that was putting down protests over nuclear testing), to the blowing up of smokestacks. This latest activity was undertaken by Chambers of Commerce in some of the old smelting towns to herald a new age in economic development.

More importantly, Environmental Law provides basic grounding in how we need now, more than ever, to defend nature against the assaults of big business industry. Additionally, the Supreme Court describes the deference granted by courts to administrative agencies in every legal discipline. It is thus imperative for all citizens to understand the Chervon standard. Professor Olson promises attendees will feel much more comfortable about their ability to spot and discuss issues. As ever, an informed citizenry will be our sole defense against the encroachments of powerful fossil fuel industries.
