The Meadows Health Center at Edgewood takes great pride in providing the finest care at our award-winning skilled nursing center. While we’re pleased to be recognized with awards for the high-quality care we provide, it’s especially gratifying to hear from residents and their families that we’re truly making a difference in their lives during a difficult time.

The following letter is from one family member, Paula M., whose beloved mother-in-law, Sheila, was a longtime resident at The Meadows. Thank you, Paula, for your kind words and allowing us the privilege to care for Sheila.

Dear Meadows Team,

As we take a moment to reflect on our journey with our beloved mother-in-law and mother, Sheila G., we feel compelled to express our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you. From the day Sheila entered The Meadows, and especially through the challenges of the Covid pandemic, your unwavering dedication and compassionate care have made an immeasurable difference in her life and the lives of our family.

Your team welcomed Sheila not just as a resident but as a cherished member of your community. The authentic warmth and kindness shown by each aide, nurse, therapist, nutritionist, and even maintenance personnel created an environment where Sheila felt safe, valued, and loved. The thoughtful gestures — like the heartfelt cards sent to her husband, Sydney — spoke volumes about the familial atmosphere you cultivate. It was comforting to know that Sheila had such caring individuals surrounding her.

Throughout her stay, we were continually amazed by the level of care you provided. Given our backgrounds as surgeons working in wound clinics, we are acutely aware of the difficulties involved in managing the health of immobile patients. The fact that Sheila never once required advanced medical intervention, was never transferred to a hospital, and did not experience any skin complications is nothing short of remarkable. This speaks to your dedication to best practices and your commitment to patient-centered care.

It’s evident that your team works with a level of diligence and expertise that is rare. The way you kept Sheila’s skin healthy and free from breakdown while providing her with dignity and respect is a testament to your professionalism and compassion. It’s not just about medical care; it’s about the relationships you build and the love you show, and it is clear that you all share a calling to this noble profession.

As we prepare to celebrate Sheila’s life at Edgewood, we sincerely hope that some of you will join us. It will mean so much to Sydney and our family to express our gratitude in person. The support and comfort we have felt from the Edgewood community have been truly healing, especially during such a difficult time.

We wholeheartedly endorse The Meadows as a place of care and compassion for anyone considering putting a loved one in your hands. Your extraordinary work does not go unnoticed, and we are incredibly grateful for everything you have done for Sheila and our family. With warmest regards and deepest appreciation,

Paula M., MD, FACS
