North Andover Youth and Recreation Services Recipients of Charitable Donation
Three local children were awarded the opportunity to spend the summer engaged in fun, educational activities at the North Andover Youth and Recreation Services Summer Camp thanks to the generosity of the residents of Edgewood.
On Thursday, Demi Tetrault, Assistant Director North Andover Youth & Recreation Services,
joined residents of Edgewood at a meeting of the Residents’ Council to thank them for providing this opportunity to children who otherwise would not have been able to attend due to financial limitations. “The generous contribution from Edgewood Retirement Community covered the cost for 3 elementary school children to participate in our 6-week summer playground program. We keep the fee for our 6-week program as affordable as we can, but for some families, their children would not be able to attend if not for financial assistance. For many of these children who attend our program on scholarship, it is the best 4 hours of their day. They have a multitude of activities to participate in, from sports and games to crafts and theater. We pride ourselves on our staff’s passion in making this program impactful and accessible for EVERY child. We have never turned a child away due to a family’s inability to pay, and that is made possible in part by amazing donations from organizations like Edgewood.”
In addition to the monies donated to the North Andover Youth and Recreation Services, the Council also provided charitable donations to both the North Andover Senior Center and to the Employee Scholarship Fund which awards scholarships to Edgewood employees who are graduating high school and pursuing higher education.
The purpose of the Edgewood Residents’ Council is to represent the members and their interests in the Edgewood Retirement Community. The Council works in conjunction with both the Board of Trustees and the Edgewood management team to make Edgewood an exceptional place to live and work. In addition, three Edgewood members are voting members of the Board of Trustees.
