WALKING AND HIKING TRAILS
Soak in the great outdoors.
Whether you prefer to walk on a paved path or take the more rustic route of the North Andover Trail System that runs through and around our campus, Edgewood is a great place to go for a walk or take a hike. Enjoy the inspired landscaping that incorporates native grasses and wildflowers. Take a woodland trail and see what treasures the season presents on the forest floor. Observe native wildlife like white-tailed deer, the occasional white squirrel, turtles, and more. And if you’re interested in birdwatching, be sure to bring your binoculars and watch for any of the 300 species of birds that migrate along our section of the Atlantic Flyway each year. When the snow comes, you can even strap on your snowshoes and join your fellow residents for a winter walk. With so much ground to cover, you’ll never run out of ways to explore.
Lake Cochichewick
Get out on the water.
Love canoeing, kayaking, or fishing but not the hassle of lugging your boat and gear to the water? You’re in luck! At Edgewood, simply take a short walk down Joyce’s Trail to the lake shore where your canoe or kayak will be waiting for you at the launch. Plus, you’ll enjoy the safety of paddling in a group — whether you get a group of friends together or join one of the many guided kayak outings led by our wellness specialist.
The Great Lawn
Gather and play with friends.
Located just outside the Clubhouse, The Great Lawn is the perfect outdoor gathering spot in every season. Enjoy planned community barbecues on the patio and impromptu sunset gatherings around the firepit. Challenge your friends or grandchildren to a spirited game of bocce, badminton, horseshoes, or other lawn games. Or, enjoy some quiet time in the meditation garden.

The Buzz on Bees
Meet Edgewood’s resident honeybees.
Watch this video to learn about Edgewood’s tiniest, most hard-working residents. Discover the abundance of pollen sources on our campus, how the bees benefit our residents’ gardens, and how the honey gets from the hives to your table.
The Restored Horse Barn
Get a glimpse of our campus’ history.
As you come through the main entrance to our community, you’ll see the restored 1800s horse barn that hints at Edgewood’s origins as a dairy farm and then a boarding stable. Today, the stately white and green barn is home to a few privately owned horses who enjoy lazy days grazing in the pasture and greeting enthusiastic visitors.
